Bill sent out an email asking about this company Natura & Co, a.k.a. Avon(?): https://www.naturaeco.com/careers-for-you/

There was a lot of discussion, so I thought I'd copy the relevant bits here for posterity.

It looks like they are a Brazilian business conglomerate (the 4th largest beauty group) that owns a few companies including Avon Brasil, Natura, The Body Shop, and Aesop.

Avon Brasil was acquired for over $2B by Natura&Co in 2019, "the deal would represent a more than 40% premium over Avon’s closing price".

"Today Natura employs an army of over 1.4 million “consultants” who hawk its products door-to-door in Brazil, other parts of Latin America and France. The company also owns The Body Shop, which it acquired from L'Oréal in 2017 for over $1 billion."

So Avon Brasil is an MLM, Natura is an MLM and has stores, same with The Body Shop, and Aesop is just stores, no MLM.

So...  "100 countries, with over 3,700 stores, 35,000 employees and 7.7* million Representatives and Consultants"combined among the 3 MLMs, and 3 brick and mortar businesses... the only number that seems "high" is the 7.7M reps... because if Natura ONLY has 1.4M, we're assuming the remaining 6.3M are split between Avon and Body Shop?

According to Avon's wikipedia page; It is the fourteenth-largest beauty company and, with 6.4 million representatives, is the second largest direct-selling enterprise in the world (after Amway). The company's CEO is Angela Cretu, who was appointed to the position in January 2020.

I suppose of those 6.4M within Avon, the majority are outside of the US and fall under Avon Brasil, and the rest could be made up of Body Shop reps, so maybe that number it's too far off at all.

YIKES.
